Weekend Golf Hacker No More

Hi there. I’m Kit, a keen social golfer that rarely has time nowadays to chase that little white ball around. Isn’t that wonderful? Not! I sometimes wonder why I bother spending at least three hours on the course on a Sunday, another hour or so to get there and back. So what is this syndrome, I'd say? And what will I do next week, I somehow manage to get back out there and torture myself again, and again. And what's worse after a bad day on the course is when I get home my wife will nag me all day for spending all that time playing crap! I put a spin on it saying that I was only there to socialise and to catch up with mates, 'not actually playing golf'. Women don't understand that! Sometimes I don't too because I can't be serious playing golf these days- not young anymore. The next 'Tiger' would have to wait another eight or so years when my son is allowed on the course.

Here's the thing. We all love to get out on the course and just do it! I buy golf books; watch the pros play and try to mimic their pre-drills, pre-shot, their 'zoned' attitude, and so on. It's just a bloody challenging game! I got wiser and try not to be so serious and try to enjoy myself more and the company I'm with. And it works, that is, just having a fun time out there. You even hear the pros say that after their low round score, "It was really fun out there today!", "I really enjoyed myself out there with Steve" You don't hear that from them when they shoot a high round.

I'll be first to admit, shooting a score that is eight shots off your handicap gives you that fantastic feeling, a thrill something that wives just don't get!
